Introduction: A Divine Morning

Good morning and welcome! Today, we unfold an essential chapter of our faith journey. Those joining us in person or tuning in online, I'm glad you're here. Though I can feel God's presence powerfully, there's a pew for you when you're ready to join us in person.

Today marks the third instalment of our series, "The Creed: What Do You Believe?"

The Mysterious Holy Spirit

Understanding the Holy Spirit can be challenging. Unlike God the Father and Jesus Christ, whom we encounter often in Scripture, the Holy Spirit's appearances are more sporadic. Yet grasping the Holy Spirit is crucial because it embodies God's power in us.

Let's explore this Holy Spirit, as depicted in Acts chapter two—where the disciples, filled with the Spirit, began to speak in other tongues, initiating a transformative era in their faith. We must remember the Holy Spirit existed from the very beginning, as Genesis reminds us, ever-hovering, ever-present, breath and wind interwoven in creation.

Temples of God: You and Me

Intriguingly, the Bible illustrates a theme of 'temple'—places where heaven and earth meet, the visible presence of God. Initially exemplified in the Garden of Eden and later in the Tabernacle, Temple, and Jesus himself, we see God's desire to dwell among us.

Today, the Apostle Paul declares believers as God's temple. Imagine that—God's Spirit living within us, each of us a temple, a space where God resides. This revelation can be both comforting and daunting. To think that the Holy Spirit, fully complete and loving, dwells in us, despite our imperfections.

Living as a Temple: Listening for God’s Voice

The Holy Spirit dwells within us, encouraging, convicting, teaching, and guiding us. I start each day seeking His presence, reading Scripture and asking, "What do you want to show me, God?" The Holy Spirit illuminates the word and speaks into our everyday moments.

Creating space to listen is essential. Just like finding a lost phone requires quiet, seeking God's voice demands intentional silence, a readiness to hear His whispers between life's chaos.

The Call to Act: Moving With The Spirit

When Jesus resurrected, He sent His Spirit among His disciples, reminding them of His unending presence. These acts compel us to step beyond our comfort zones. As God’s visible presence in this world, we are charged to carry His peace everywhere, assured that we never go alone.

I believe wholeheartedly in the Holy Spirit: its indwelling within me, its constant work within us, and the Spirit’s yearning to move through us. As I invite you to Sherry to receive our offerings and refreshments await us downstairs, there’s also a labyrinth—a sacred place providing profound meditation and prayer opportunity.

Closing Blessing

In conclusion, I bless you to walk this journey with grace. May Christ, who walks on wounded feet, accompany you. May His hands guide you to serve with love. May His heart open yours to embrace others. And may you see Christ in everyone you meet, even as others see Christ in you. Amen.
