HENRY SUKHU TO BE INDUCTED

Tue, Sep 17, at 7 pm Presbytery will meet at Amberlea to induct our own Henry Sukhu as moderator. Come!

What is Presbytery?

The 'Presbytery of Pickering' is the committee of elders that oversees the Presbyterian churches in our area. Its role is similar to that of a bishop in the Catholic or Anglican church. Although the name of the Presbytery is 'Presbytery of Pickering', the Presbytery extends from Scarborough in the West to Bomanville in the East.

Presbytery meets monthly; the location rotates among the Presbyterian churches in the Presbytery.

Rev Mona Scrivens, Sheri Phillips and Laurie Laframboise represent Amberlea at the meetings of Presbytery. Henry served as our representatitve for many years before becoming moderator.

What does the Moderator do?

As Moderator, Henry will be responsible for chairing the meetings of Presbytery and generally ensure smooth operation. It is an important role.

What can I do to help?

As a member of the Amberlea congregation there are number ways you can help:

  1. Pray for Henry and all members of Presbytery

  2. Attend the induction

  3. Bring food to help host Presbytery (see sign up list)
